Winter Cookery Demo

The Winter Cookery Demonstration on 8th Feb at the Cambridge Cookery School was a sell-out success. We had 29 people on the night and we were all treated to a fascinating demonstration by Liz Young, following recipes by Tine Roche, the founder and head of the school. (Tine was not well on the night, unfortunately, but Liz did a great job standing in for her.) Not only did we have several demonstrations of how to cook, for example, braised cavalo cero or kale with garlic and chilli Italian style and creamed savoy cabbage and fennel and apple salad, but we also got a good taste of all of these plus some other “here are some I prepared earlier” recipes, such as lentil soup and wild venison loin in lapsang souchong tealeaves – a real gourmet feast! And then we had a recipe sheet to take away with us! (You can find this on the CCF website under the “recipes” section of “Resources”) We were certainly shown that eating local food in winter is anything but a hardship, with a great range of delicious vegetables to choose from. many thanks to Liz and Tine!”
