Our toolkits

We currently have three toolkits that are lent out to Repair Cafes in Cambridgeshire. The toolkits include important safety equipment and signage as well as tools that repairers in our network rely on. For this reason, you must book a toolkit if you would like to recruit repairers from our network and/or come under the Cambridge Carbon Footprint Master Insurance for Repair Cafes.

Click on the button below to see our toolkit inventories. There are different sheets for each toolkit.

Book a toolkit

Step 1: Check you're eligible

To book one of our Repair Cafetoolkits you must:

  • Be organising a Repair Cafe in Cambridgeshire;
  • Confirm that at least one member of your Repair Cafe organising group has attended our ‘How to run a Repair Cafe’ training session (you will be asked to provide the training code during the booking process);
  • Agree to take out the recommended level of insurance cover set out in our insurance guidance;
  • Pay £20 towards toolkit upkeep (exemptions available upon request – please email us: repairnetwork@cambridgecarbonfootprint.org);
  • Have a venue reserved for your desired date before booking the toolkit;
  • Agree to arrange toolkit collection and return with the relevant toolkit host in a timely manner;
  • Agree to store the toolkit safely under lock and key and out of site if it is stored in a car.
  • Agree, with the help of a lead repairer, to return the toolkit with all tools replaced in their correct colour-coded compartments.

Step 2: Book a toolkit

Toolkit booking arrangements

  • Click on the link below to see availability for your nearest toolkit.
  • You will be asked to BOOK THE TOOLKIT FOR THE DAY OF YOUR REPAIR CAFE.
  • If more than one Repair Cafe asks to book in a particular week, the toolkit host will check with the existing booking whether a quick handover from Repair Cafe to Repair Cafe is feasible, before confirming the new booking.
  • When your booking is confirmed by the relevant host, you will be sent a confirmation email including their contact details. Please CONTACT THE HOST TO ARRANGE COLLECTION (see Step 3 below)
  • The standard assumption is that toolkits are collected at the earliest 12.00 noon on the Wednesday preceding the Repair Cafe and returned at the latest 12.00 noon on the Wednesday following the Repair Cafe. Sometimes it saves time and car-miles (so emissions) to take toolkits directly from one Repair Cafe to the next. These arrangements will be made by email by the relevant toolkit host.

Step 3: Arrange collection & return

As soon as your booking is accepted by the host, you will receive a CONFIRMATION EMAIL including your booking details and the contact details for the relevant toolkit host.

CONTACT THE TOOLKIT HOST using the information in your confirmation email to make arrangements for toolkit collection and return. You will need a car and at least one person who is able to lift in order to collect the toolkit. The largest box requires two people to lift it. You can ask your toolkit host to help you with this.
