Vacancy: Net Zero Now Co-ordinator
Cambridge Carbon Footprint (CCF) is looking for an experienced community organiser to help deliver Net Zero Now (NZN). The NZN project supports climate action by building capacity in local community groups to deliver carbon reduction activities, events and communications that engage people of all backgrounds. NZN was successfully piloted in South Cambridgeshire in 2020/2021 and we are delighted to have funds from South Cambridgeshire District Council and the National Lottery Community Fund to extend it. This role is a fantastic opportunity to extend and develop the programme and have a positive impact on the resilience and sustainability of local communities.
With support from our small and friendly team of staff and volunteers you will be responsible for organising and delivering all aspects of Net Zero Now. The NZN training scheme has already been successfully piloted, so this role will focus on extending the training and support offered.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Organising and delivering 2 new rounds of Net Zero Now training
- Recruiting trainees, including outreach to identify leaders in harder to reach communities
- Delivering 1:1 support sessions for all trainees
- Connecting with recent and past graduates to identify support and equipment needs
- Supporting graduate climate leaders from the programme as they continue to develop and deliver climate actions in their communities
- Delivering a training and networking event for climate leaders in South Cambs (for those in the programme, and others)
- Delivering ongoing publicity, social media work
- Monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the programme’s impact
Our ideal candidate
The successful candidate will be someone who has a good knowledge of climate change and local carbon reduction strategies, has knowledge and experience of community organising, is an excellent communicator, organised and able to plan and deliver events/projects. We are looking for someone who lives in our region and ideally has their own transport to Cambridge and surrounding villages (travel costs will be reimbursed).
This is a unique opportunity to work on a project that will respond to the high levels of public interest in climate change and carbon reduction in a meaningful way.
You would be joining CCF, a small local climate change charity that supports people to reduce carbon emissions and empowers people to take the lead on carbon reduction in their social circles, communities and places of work. We centre our approach on what climate action means to people in their everyday lives – in terms of their beliefs, values and capabilities to make real change.
Everyone is welcome at Cambridge Carbon Footprint. Our volunteers and staff are amazing – they inspire great ideas, drive new plans forwards and help make Cambridge a better and more sustainable place to live and work. By recruiting and retaining a diverse mix of colleagues who are representative of the diversity in our local community we are more likely to build our vision for sustainable low carbon communities. We value belonging and community and are committed to supporting one another to contribute effectively to local climate solutions.
