Fiona: Yesterday I resisted the call of new mobile telecommunications…..

……but I’m not sure how long I can hold out! I received a text from my mobile phone company yesterday offering me a discount on a shiny new phone as a valued customer. I have to admit I was tempted by the thought of a lovely new smartphone. I’ve had my  current phone for 5 years and whilst it occasionally turns itself off, most of the time it works fine. But yesterday I found myself easily being swayed into the smartphone generation. I quickly started to formulate sound arguments why my life would be so much easier if I could go online 24/7. And despite resisting the urge to buy I am still left with the
feeling that some of these arguments were very good indeed and should not be ignored. But do I need a new phone – NO. Hmmmm…..maybe my current phone will start turning itself off more regularly and I’ll just have to replace it……..
