An Invitation to CCF’s Supercharging Local Climate Action Conference

Cambridgeshire has an incredible network of local, volunteer-led groups committed to building thriving sustainable communities and doing what they can to tackle the climate and nature crisis. CCF have carried out a temperature take of groups and they’ve told us that now, more than ever, the movement needs to ‘find its people’ and supercharge the transition.

To support groups to thrive, CCF is inviting up to two people (volunteers) from green community organisations to join us for a FREE half-day ‘Supercharging Local Climate Conference’ in Chesterton, Cambridge. We’re inviting in experts to share some short-cuts to success and providing space for groups to be inspired by, and get to know one another. This conference is supported by the Network for Social Change, SCDC’s Zero Carbon Communities and Support Cambridgeshire.

• Welcome – interactive co-benefits installation with CCF’s Artist in Residence Hilary Cox Condron, stalls, the Resilience Web
• Setting the Scene – MP Pippa Heylings and other elected reps/officers on the national, regional and local landscape
• Powerful Climate Comms – Sustainable comms agency Director Peter Gilheany
• Widening Engagement and Working with Young People/Schools –  Fenland DC’s Env Officer Ashley Dolling & local teacher Denbigh Cowley
• Group Health Check – workshops on fundraising, volunteer recruitment and retention, the best tech/platforms
• Success stories and tips from delegates
• Climate anxiety support (optional)
• Vegan dinner provided by Arjuna Wholefoods and drinks for all

Many groups from around Cambridgeshire will have recently received an invitation to this conference for up to two people to join us, free of charge. Ideally we’d like one long-standing and experienced group member to be accompanied by someone who is newer but keen. There are ten spaces available to volunteers in groups that haven’t been contacted directly. Please fill in this Google Form by Fri 11th Sept and we’ll be in touch the following week.

There is ample bike parking on site and parking is available free of charge on Saturdays. St Andrew’s is fully accessible.
