Green Dialogues: A Debate for the Planet

300 secondary students from schools across Cambridge have been invited into Cambridge University’s famous Cambridge Union Society’s Debating Chamber. They will debate and vote on a series of motions concerning climate justice, inter-generational responsibilities and the most effective actions for students to accelerate government action. The final agreed motions are:

  • This House Believes that performative acts for the environment cause more harm than good
  • This House Believes that climate change is the responsibility of the individual

The event will be chaired by speechwriter, author and teacher, Guy Doza.

Entry – 300 spaces are reserved for school pupils – any secondary or sixth form students wanting to join in should email Denbigh.Cowley@ParksideCC.org.uk. One hundred seats in the public gallery will be allocated to the public but need to be booked – please book a free seat for the public gallery via the Cambridge Festival website here.

Organised in partnership between Parkside Community College and Cambridge Carbon Footprint with support from Cambridge City Council.
