We sold a Victorian house, found this plot and built a bridge to reach it. Although novices we embarked on a self build house in 2020, timber framed, ultra insulated, heat pump, UFH, airtight, mechanical ventilation. As I had retired I managed project and hired most trades individually. We needed a new electricity and water connection and a sewage treatment plant. We avoided Grand Designs mishaps by careful planning and good luck.
Needed to move from a lovely but expensive to run and maintain Victorian house and fascinated by Grand Designs
