THE WORKS

INSULATION & DRAUGHT-PROOFING

High levels of insulation in walls, floor and roof
walls use 150mm rigid insulation
external walls 100mm cavity insulation
roof uses super quilt

INSULATION INSTALLER: Brayfield Construction

Recommendation: 10/10

SOLAR PV & BATTERIES

Solar panels and 9kW battery

SOLAR INSTALLER: RDS Renewables

Recommendation: 6/10

Performs very well, solar output is higher than expected.
Battery is a very good money saving tool

We opted for the in-roof solar panels which give a very good appearance with the black slate roof tiles

HEATING AND HOT WATER

ASHP

HEATING & HW INSTALLER: RDS Renewables

Recommendation: 5/10

ASHP meets all needs in terms of domestic hot water.

ASHP needs careful set up for space heating, and can be very costly unless optimised with a smart tariff and smart schedules.

thermal comfort level do need adjusting at first vs conventional boiler but the ASHP does adequately heat the house which is quite large,

LESSONS LEARNT & ADVICE

In hindsight, I would have opted for a larger battery stack and large PV array.

the battery we have is modular, so will add in future.

additional cooling measures may be needed due to overheating due to large amount of glazing and high insulation levels
