Having lived in Australia where “reverse-cycle aircon” was normal in houses and seeing the increasing likelihood of very hot and prolonged UK summers, we decided on installing an Air to Air system which works well for both cooling and heating. Great in summer and a wonderful boost system in winter when we don’t want to heat the whole house.
Double glazing, a modern gas-fired CH system, loft insulation, and partial cavity insulation were installed prior to our buying the house.
One half of the house always felt colder than the other. When we investigated, there was no cavity wall insulation. So we had it put in and the difference was immediately noticeable.
Contacted Air Conditioning and cavity wall insulation firms. Got three quotes from the ones that impressed us as being professional and chose the one we thought most likely to deliver a good project at a reasonable price. Energy saving and comfort.
Cavity wall insulation in the ole part of the house. Air to Air system installed in bedrooms and main downstairs rooms.
Much greater comfort. Energy bills lower. We changed energy providers and rates so difficult to compare before and after costs.
