Gadgets to Go

Gadgets to Go(254x300)

A film, a talk and a swap night

There was a great buzz as over 20 of us swapped gadgets – people came away smiling, clutching everything from a tablet computer to a pepper mill that will now get further useful life.

The aim of the event was to help us reduce the carbon footprint of the stuff we buy, in particular our gadgets. Most people’s ‘stuff’ (non-food consumption) causes over a quarter of their footprint!

The event started with a screening of The Story of Electronics , a short film on electronic gadgets and problems they cause, and then there was a talk from Tom Bragg on “Greening Gadgets” with all sorts of practical tips on spending less and cutting your carbon footprint. (He’s written up his notes into a really useful resource section here.)
