Bookings now closed

The bookings for our Thermal Imaging cameras have now closed. Please return to our main Thermal Imaging page for news on our next season.

Get started

Booking a camera is easy, just follow our step by step guide to pick and book your camera.

To be eligible to book a camera you need to have completed our:

  1. Thermal imaging training – this is a free 1½ hour Zoom training that we run 4 times each year during the winter months. Choose and book a session via the link above. Do not book a camera unless you have already completed the training.
  2. Volunteer thermal imaging agreement – this outlines our expectations for anyone borrowing a camera. Having everyone sign this is an important part of getting insurance for our cameras.

Once you have completed both of the above you can move on to Step 2.

If you wish to reserve a camera for surveys of multiple properties for longer than the Mon-Fri borrowing period, please contact ticamera@cambridgecarbonfootprint.org.

Use the drop down below to select your chosen location and see the camera availability.

Most cameras can be booked either:

  • Monday afternoon to Friday morning
  • Friday afternoon to Monday morning

The exception to this are the cameras located in Fulbourn, and at Sentec in Chesterton.

  • Sentec in Chesterton can be picked up Friday and dropped back Monday any time between 9.30am and 4.30pm
  • The camera in Fulbourn can be collected and returned Fridays and Sundays.

Once you’ve submitted your booking you should receive an automated email from the website with details of your booking, including the name, address and contact number for the volunteer camera host. You’ll need this information to be able to pick up the camera.

If you do not receive your confirmation email within the hour (please check your spam folder) email us at ticamera@cambridgecarbonfootprint.org. You will not be able to pick up your camera without the details in this email.

Keep an eye out for any communications from your camera host in the lead up to your booking pick-up. They may reach out to you if they aren’t available at the exact time you’ve requested, or if there are any changes to your booking.

It’s important to pick up your camera at the agreed upon time. If your plans change and you’re no longer able to make the pick-up time you selected, please let your camera host know. If you need to change the date or cancel your booking, you can do so using the links in your confirmation email.

If you’d like to brush up on how to use your camera before your booking, take a look at the resources on our thermal imaging page. We’ve got manuals and guides for each of the different cameras, and slides and recordings from past thermal imaging training sessions.

Please make sure to drop the camera and accessories back at the agreed upon time and complete a Thermal Imaging Survey Record for each building you used the camera on. This helps us understand the impact of the project and supports our case for funding. If there was anything missing or not working please let your host know, and/or contact the CCF thermal imaging team.

If you’ve found the thermal camera training and loan scheme useful, please consider making a donation to help us continue to run and improve the project.
