Tue Aug 3, 6:00pm – 8:00pm
It’s an incredible 16 months since we had our last Repair Café in the Community room at CB1! We’re delighted to be restarting with a small scale Repair Café at a familiar venue and at a slightly different day and time to our usual. The repairers will be taking pre-booked items only, so no drop-ins for now, sorry. We will be working within current Covid guidelines for indoor gatherings, details will follow with your booking.
Bookings are now open for the August 3 Repair Café. Please book your item in using this form and someone will be back in touch with you. We’ll be seeing the usual household electricals and electronics and gadgets, clothes, bicycles, ornaments, jewellery, toys, garden equipment etc. We think this Café will be popular and places will go soon so please keep your eyes peeled. If you don’t get in this time, we are planning another for October.
If you haven’t yet caught the BBC’s ‘Dare to Repair’ series, it’s still available here. You’ll be shocked by many manufacturing practices and inspired by the people fighting for the ‘Right to Repair’.
Repair Cafés in Cambridge City are organised by the Cambridgeshire Repair Café Network, a partnership between Transition Cambridge and Cambridge Carbon Footprint, with support from Mackay’s and Drapers Tools. The Network support groups in Cambridgeshire villages who run their own Repair Cafes, and run occasional training sessions for new groups in Cambridgeshire who would like to set one up locally.
