Net Zero Now Co-ordinator

Cambridge Carbon Footprint (CCF) is looking for an experienced community organiser to help deliver an exciting new project – Net Zero Now (NZN). The NZN project is designed to facilitate action on climate change by building capacity in community groups around South Cambridgeshire to deliver carbon reduction activities, events and communications that engage people of all backgrounds.

The project will focus on helping community groups to achieve behaviour and attitude changes by doing three key things: providing training in effective communication and engagement strategies, developing practical organisational skills, and creating tools, resources to support carbon reduction activities.

You would be joining CCF, a small local climate change charity that supports people to reduce carbon emissions and empowers people to take the lead on carbon reduction in their social circles, communities and places of work. Using a broad base of research on climate science and communication, we centre our approach on what climate action means to people in their everyday lives – in terms of their beliefs, values and capabilities to make real change.

Working as part of a small and friendly team you will be responsible for setting up and delivering all aspects of the Net Zero Now project. Key responsibilities will include organising training events and workshops, writing online guidance and collating relevant resources, providing support to groups by phone, email and in person, promoting collaboration, partnership building and skill sharing across the region, and publicising and promoting the project.

The successful candidate will be someone who has a good knowledge of climate change and carbon reduction strategies, has knowledge and experience of community organising, is an excellent communicator, and is able to effectively prioritise and manage their own workload.

This is a unique opportunity to work on a project that will respond to the current wave of intense public interest in climate change and carbon reduction.

Apply by email to Alana Sinclair at by sending your CV and a covering letter outlining your relevant experiences and how you meet the role requirements (see the application pack).

Interviews will be held Monday March 2nd (not Tuesday March 3rd as previously listed) unless otherwise agreed.

Note: This role will require some evening and weekend work. Time off in lieu will be given. Flexible working arrangements are available.
Cambridge Carbon Footprint is an equal opportunity employer.
