Role title: CirculART 2018 – intern
Reporting to: Alana Sinclair, CCF’s Manager
Principle function: CirculART is a unique and innovative project that matches up to 30 artists with 30 charity shops throughout the city of Cambridge. The artists and charities collaborate to host displays of upcycled art in the city’s windows for 3 weeks in June.

The public follow an online and printed CirculART trail.The trail encourages people to think about overconsumption, waste and resource use whilst also inspiring them to be more creative. CirculART is part of Circular Cambridge, a project that promotes the thinking of the circular economy at a local level.

Expenses: Yes, agreed in advance and reasonable daily travel and lunch expenses.
Location: Cambridge Carbon Footprint, The Bike Depot, 140 Cowley Rd, Cambridge. CB4 0DL
Days and hours (plse be as specific as possible giving days and am/pm):

 

Negotiable: three days in the office or two days in the office and one from home.

Hours: 10am – 5pm.

Days: Negotiable and could vary to suit the interns availability.

Duration (on-going or fixed period): Three months, starting early March 2018.
Description of the Role: You will be one of three people leading on CirculART 2018, the others being CCF’s Manager and Jenny Langley, artist and founder of CirculART.

You will be supported in your role to:

  • Work with CCF staff to come up with a communications strategy.
  • Promote CirculART 2018 through press and social media.
  • Liaise with artists and charity shops to bring together the Trail map. This will involve both writing and editing content and gathering and editing pictures of the artist’s work.
  • Liaise with the designer.
  • Create lively and engaging event listings and content for our websites
  • Monitor project plan and keep on top of the admin.
  • Help organise an event party.
  • Write press releases and deal with enquires from the media.
  • Support the artist/shop manager relationship – ensuring agreements are filled in and collected.
  • Top-up Trail maps and distribute publicity materials to different parties.
  • Oversee monitoring and evaluation
The benefits and/or difference the volunteers commitment will bring: An intern will help even more people to follow the trail and lead to more publicity and awareness around the issues of waste and the circular economy.
Skills and/or qualifications and experience required:

 

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Good organisational, admin and timekeeping skills.
  • Good project management skills.
  • Good general IT skills.
  • A creative visual eye would be an advantage.
  • Experience with WordPress, Publisher or other graphic design programs desirable but not essential.
  • Experience using social media effectively.
  • A passion for the environment.
Training required and support offered: 1:1 line management support

1:1 in-house training (external considered if required) on things like WordPress, Publisher etc
