Join us in March 2019 for a one off-tour of Europe’s first eco-mosque, and the first Open Eco Homes tours of the completed K1 cohousing development at Marmalade Lane.
Marmalade Lane is Cambridge’s first cohousing community and consists of 42 homes alongside communal facilities such as a Common House and large shared garden. It has been designed to be sustainable and have a small environmental footprint, while also fostering a strong sense of community.
The new Cambridge Mosque is dedicated to the spiritual and social welfare of the city’s estimated six thousand Muslims. It accomplishes this alongside being a unique building with a large variety of ecological features such as air source heat pumps, rainwater collection and green roofs.
‘We are using the latest conservation technology and green roofs so that we’ll have an almost zero carbon footprint’
Tim Winter, chairman of the Cambridge Mosque Trust
Further details, case studies and booking for both locations can be found on the Open Eco Homes website. The tours are free, but booking is required.
