Carbon Conversations

An inspiring, practical course on climate-friendly, low-carbon living

Six meetings about carbon reduction & climate change

Small groups meet for two hours with trained facilitators, to explore issues around climate-change and our personal carbon footprints.

" This course is brilliant — it doesn't preach, it doesn't tell you what to do and it doesn't make you feel guilty. It asks stimulating questions, provides clear information and fun exercises and then helps you make your own decisions

Looking for a low-carbon future

Image of the Earth

We look at the need to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gasses to reduce the impact of climate change. We also consider what this might mean in our personal lives and for society.

The following meetings look at how we can reduce our personal carbon footprints.

Home energy

Home energy accounts for 21% of the uk average carbon footprint

Almost a quarter of our CO2 emissions come from the energy we use in our homes. There are some easy and cheap ways to reduce these emissions and save energy. We look at the issues and help you develop plans for action, remembering that home is a very personal place.

Travel & transport

Travel accounts for 16% of the uk average carbon footprint

It's easy to measure your CO2 emissions from travel by keeping track of your journeys by car, bus, train and 'plane. It's harder to know how to reduce it. We look at how cheap travel has changed the world, and at our options for lower-carbon travel in the future.

Food & water

Food accounts for 24% of the uk average carbon footprint

Another quarter of our CO2 emissions comes from our food and drink. We look at the energy used to grow, deliver and prepare our food and consider ways we can enjoy healthy food with less harmful impact on the environment.

We also look at global issues around water that climate change will make worse.

Consumption & waste

Personal consumption accounts for 25% of the uk average carbon footprint It's treasure, it's trash, it's creative and destructive. Learn how to live with enough for your needs.
