We’re still technically in the Hungry Gap, but there are some delicious foods starting to come into season now, such as strawberries and broad beans, and this is absolutely the season for asparagus!
- Broad beans (later in month)
- Kohl rabi
- Purple sprouting broccoli (early in month)
- Red cabbage
- Salad leaves
- Sorrel (tastes like lemony spinach)
- Spring onions
Vegetable of the month: asparagus
Make the most of the short but wonderful asparagus season by buying fresh, local asparagus. Try it roasted, steamed or grilled – toss it through pasta with olive oil and lemon zest, put it on a pizza or enjoy it simply in a salad or with soft boiled egg.
