Two thousand steps towards a cooler climate

Carbon Footprint calculates its two thousandth footprint
Cambridge teacher Claire Shenton is the two thousandth person to have their Carbon Footprint measured by local climate change group Cambridge Carbon Footprint.
Stopping by at the CCF stall at the Big Day Out on Saturday, Claire was delighted to discover that she clocks in a bit below the national average of 12 tonnes. “My footprint is 9.2 tonnes,” said Claire.
I’m aware of climate change and what I should do, but having my footprint measured reminded me of times when I slip up. It’s a great way of helping you focus without making you feel bad! Better public transport to Sawston, where I work, would encourage me to switch from using the car
Claire takes away a prize of a bag of organic vegetables donated by local organic growers Waterland Organics.
Sian Reid, Executive City Councillor for Climate Change and Growth commented:
This is a great achievement. Climate change is the most serious problem we face and it’s wonderful to see Cambridge residents coming together to tackle it.
